community connecting

For several years, Helen was employed as a ‘Community Connector’ with Edinburgh Development Group, supporting adults with learning difficulties to make and sustain connections within their
own communities.

In this course, Helen shares some of her own experience, focusing particularly on:

  • The role of community connector or bridge-builder
  • Defining community
  • Inclusion and exclusion and why this is an issue for people
  • Strategies for making and maintaining connections – relationship mapping, community mapping, networking skills, facilitating links using individual gifts
  • Citizenship as the key to community participation

Typically this is a two-day course with additional, optional, follow-up sessions for facilitated learning and problem-solving
